The alarm rings at half past four, the trailer is packed, and halfway there you realise the reins are hanging at home. We know that. That is why here is the checklist we like to lay out beforehand.
For the horse
- Halter and lead rope, spare halter
- Saddle, pad, cinch, bridle and reins
- Leg boots or wraps, bell boots
- Blanket, cooler, fly protection
- Water, bucket and a bit of hay for the waiting room
For you
- Entry papers, equipment check according to the rules
- Show clothes, gloves, spare shirt
- Enough to drink, a snack, sun protection
For grooming and emergencies
- Brushes, hoof pick, mane spray or detangler
- Hoof care and leather care for the final touch
- Bandages and a small first aid kit
Pack the evening before and tick off item by item. That way your head stays free on show day for you and your horse. What you are missing you will find in show tack or in the care products.
