You are standing in front of the shelf and wondering: boots or wraps? With bell boots or without? The honest answer is: it depends on what your horse does.
Leg boots
Leg boots protect the legs against strikes, for example when hind hooves brush the front legs. They go on quickly and are easy to clean. In fast manoeuvres, in reining or cutting, they are popular. What matters is that they fit: not too loose (they would rub), not too tight.
Bell boots
Bell boots protect the heels and coronary bands when the hind hooves step forward. If your horse tends to step on itself, they are worth considering. Look for the right size so they do not slip.
Wraps
Wraps support and protect at the same time, but need some practice. Applied wrongly they can do more harm than good, so have someone show you.
Do not forget care
After training sweat and sand have to come off, otherwise it rubs. Neoprene models can usually be rinsed off easily and dried in the air. For health questions about the legs your vet is the right person. If you are looking for leg protection, see our leg boot selection.
