Care instruction:
Before use:
For bits whose mouthpiece and/or cheek piece are made of sweet iron or black iron, it is very important to oil the hinges, the transitions from mouthpiece to cheek piece, before use.
This prevents any moisture from getting in.
After use:
After use the bit should be cleaned thoroughly.
Your horse will be happy to have a clean bit, without leftovers from the day before, put into its mouth the next day.
A damp bit should not be oiled, otherwise the moisture is sealed in by the oil.
Ballistol universal oil is one of the few alkaline oils.
Highly effective, universal, environmentally friendly and disinfecting at the same time.
Because of its composition Ballistol cannot resinify and has practically unlimited shelf life.
Ballistol is kosher. In addition, Ballistol universal oil is fully biodegradable, food-safe and skin-friendly.
Mode of action:
Myler mouthpieces correspond in construction and design to the Myler level, which in turn reflects the behaviour and experience of the horse. The different mouthpieces are available from level 1. These act most strongly on the tongue. Level 3 mouthpieces act least on the tongue and offer the most tongue relief. Most horses can skip level 1 and it is entirely possible that your horse starts its training with the Myler system at level 2, 2-3 or even 3.
This mouthpiece is characterised as follows:
-
Offers tongue relief with a small port (raised centre) or a flexible mouthpiece.
-
Rotates on the tongue to act there lightly.
-
Folds, forming a "U" (not a "V"), and so protects the lips and bars from pinching.
-
Is curved and thus creates more room for the tongue and protects the lips and bars from pinching.
-
ISM* on most mouthpieces. (independent side movement)
Eignung:
Your horse's Myler level depends on its temperament and experience. The Myler system comprises different levels, i.e. your horse earns its tongue relief step by step. The higher the Myler level, the more tongue relief the respective mouthpieces offer and the less they act on the tongue. If your horse resists the bit, choose a milder bit and not a sharper one.
This level (2) is suitable for a wide variety of horses:
inexperienced horses, already trained horses that are ridden with Myler bits for the first time, or as a bit for horses that have had a longer break from riding
